Downtown Business Alliance

The Downtown Business Alliance is a group of business owners and individuals interested in maintaining the integrity of Bastrop’s historic downtown district as a center of community activity, as an attractive and compelling visitor destination, and most importantly, as the heart and pride of a fast-growing city within one of the most historic and naturally unique areas in Texas.

Our membership’s goal is to work with all business and organizations to ensure our old town, our parks, our historic trails and our natural wonders thrive.

The Downtown Business Alliance (DBA), in conjunction with the Texas Main Street Program and the Preserve America Program, is striving to generate interest in and recognition of the heritage and beauty of the area by structuring events held on the streets and in the parks of the historic district.

Pet & Pal Parade

Third Annual Pet and Pal Parade Scheduled for July 5th

Pet Goat

Bastrop’s third annual Pet and Pal parade is on target for July 5th as a lead in for the annual Patriotic Festival in Fisherman’s Park later that evening.

Parades are a tradition in Bastrop and this is the opportunity for our four-legged friends and their young owners to participate. Last year’s parade was a rousing success with all canines on their best behavior during the event. There were dogs of all shapes, sizes, and breeds. There were turtles in a wagon and goats on leashes. Prizes were given for best patriotic outfit on both child and beast and everyone who participated shared in ice-cream cake from Dairy Queen.

This year there will be a registration table for entrants set up at Water and Pine Streets.Registration begins at 10:00 a.m. with the parade starting at 11:30 a.m. All dogs must be on leashes and in the control of their owners. The route is from Water and Pine Streets down Pine to Main, right on Main to Spring Street, left on Spring to the Bastrop Library parking lot where there will be lemonade, water and assorted treats. Prizes will be awarded at the end of the parade. For questions and further information contact the Bastrop Chamber of Commerce at 303-0558 or Nancy Wood at 332-0068.
